Dog Breeds That Drool

Heat, thirst, and hunger are the three things that can cause just about any dog to drool. Yet there are certain breeds that slobber much more than others. So before you decide on what type of canine you’d like to purchase, you’ll want to check out the following list of dog breeds that drool most.

French Bulldog

The French Bulldog is a low-energy breed, that doesn’t bark much. These traits make it an ideal apartment dog. It’s, therefore, no surprise that according to the UKC it ranks as one of the most popular dogs for city dwellers. Because of its thick hanging lips and underbite, it’s common for the Frenchie to drool after eating and drinking, among other activities.

Boxer

The Boxer is considered to be a dog breed that drools a moderate amount. That being said some Boxers drool less and some drool much more. How much an individual Boxer dog drools is influenced by both the shape of its mouth and face. For example Boxers with lips that curve inward tend to drool less than those with lips that curve out. That’s because inward-curving lips catch much of the drool, which the dog then swallows.

The Great Dane is also considered a “velcro dog,” because it loves to stick close to its owners at all times. Because the Dane doesn’t realize its size, this usually means you’ll end up with a giant drooling lap dog.
