Many dog breeds look similar to other types of animals. For example, there are breeds that remind us of lions, foxes, wolves, and even bears. And a few special canines closely resemble polar bears. So here are the top dogs that look like polar bears and what you’ll want to know about them.

Chow Chow

A rare physical trait that the polar bear and the Chow Chow have in common is the color of their tongues. Both have tongues that are blue-black. This bear-like breed has a lavish coat that comes in five colors: red, cinnamon, black, blue, and cream. And while Chow Chows in other coat colors may look similar to a brown or black bear, a Chow Chow with a cream coat looks very similar to the great white bear of the north.

Great Pyrenees

The Great Pyrenees is a giant livestock guardian breed. This polar bear-looking dog is both large and powerful. And it takes its job of protecting the flock very seriously. The Great Pyrenees is either all white or white with gray, tan, or reddish-brown markings.

Normally it will work together with several other dogs in order to keep these hungry predators from preying on the livestock

American Eskimo Dog

A hunter and guardian, the Korean Jindo is also known for its highly loyal nature. It is a muscular dog that is named for its place of origin: Jindo Island in South Korea.
